Repsol Sinopec announced as industry champion as OGUK Awards 2021 finalists revealed

Repsol Sinopec Resources UK Limited has been announced an industry champion as the leading representative body of the offshore oil and gas industry today revealed its shortlist for this year’s prestigious OGUK Awards, sponsored by Shell U.K. Limited.

Repsol Sinopec has made it through to the finals after being nominated for the Energy Transition Award 2021.

A total of 27 entrants have been shortlisted after an expert panel considered over 90 nominees for the eight award categories.

The event, considered the highlight of industry’s social calendar, will be taking place both virtually via live stream and physically on Wednesday 8 December at P&J Live in Aberdeen. Interested parties can book their place at the highly anticipated black-tie event here.

Commenting on the announcement, OGUK CEO Deirdre Michie OBE said:

“This shortlist is a real reflection of the great talent and expertise of our energy communities – those that personify the North Sea grit and innovation this industry is known for.

“I am delighted to see this recognition for their accomplishments; keeping the UK’s lights on, hospitals running, and transport going, all while really driving industry toward its net zero goals and transitioning the UK towards a sustainable future.”

José Luis Muñoz, Chief Executive Officer, commented today:

“We are pleased to have been announced as a finalist in this year’s OGUK Awards and nominated for the Energy Transition Award. We fully support the industry’s transition to clean, green energy and a secure future for skilled oil and gas workers here in the North East of Scotland and across the UK.

“We have a strategic roadmap, supported by our shareholders and aligned with each of their strategic ambitions, which outlines our key targets and priorities, including Energy Transition. We have developed an Emissions Management Plan which provides clear and demonstrable commitment to emissions reduction and pathway to 2050 Net Zero and are evaluating a number of emissions reduction and energy transition opportunities, for which our Flotta Terminal is well positioned to take advantage of.

“Reducing carbon in upstream production is a significant focus for us and we are striving to reduce our scope-1 carbon emissions. Since 2018 we have reduced our emissions by more than 14% (more than 230,000 tonnes of CO₂e) and are implementing actions for further reductions to be achieved before 2025. I would like to acknowledge everyone in our organisation, particularly those offshore and in our Energy Transition team, for their hard work and commitment getting us to where we are today.”
