The Buchan oil field was discovered by well 21/1-1, drilled by Transworld Group and Texaco.

1981

The field was brought into production by BP in 1981 with nine development wells and initial production peaked at 54,537 bopd.

1985

Gas Lift Compression System installed on Buchan Alpha (Kishorn)

1996

Talisman Energy (UK) Limited acquires oil field and facilities from BP and becomes field operator

1999

Buchan Alpha Life Extension Works and Flexible Riser System Installed (Invergordon)

1999

Talisman Energy become operator of the Buchan & Hannay fields

2002

Commencement of Hannay production

2012

Joint venture created between Talisman Energy and Sinopec. Talisman Energy (UK) Limited is renamed Talisman Sinopec Energy UK Limited.

2015

Talisman Energy is acquired by Repsol.

2016

Talisman Sinopec Energy UK Limited is renamed Repsol Sinopec Resources UK Limited.

2017

Suspension of production on Buchan & Hannay wells. Buchan Alpha removed from station and towed to Shetland Islands for recycling

2019

Flexible risers & MWA recovered and transferred onshore for recycling

2021

Decommissioning Programmes approved by the regulator
